Community-based Housing
for People with Disabilities

…the power of relationships heals and makes whole. —Beth Mount

Acme Co-op, the Arroyo Chico Members Enterprise, is an affordable, safe and creative apartment community in Tucson, Arizona, which is designed and governed by people with disabilities, along with their families, friends, relatives and support services.

Members of the Acme Co-op are guided by the Eight Habits of the Heart, which include: Brotherhood & Sisterhood, Dependability, Responsibility, Courage, Hope, Friendship, Nurturing and High Expectations.

At Acme Co-op the magic of belonging is at the heart of planning. Understanding is extended to those with disabilities, those that love them and those paid to care for them. Everyone has the responsibility to serve; everyone has opportunities to make a contribution. Members of Acme Co-op say: "What happens to you makes a difference and is important to all of us. We watch out for and care for one another."
